# Expected Threat -- beyond xG
Expected Threat (xT) measures the value of every ball carry and pass based on how much it increases the probability of a goal, unlike xG, which only values the shot itself. By combining xT with other metrics such as field tilt and pressing statistics (PPDA), it is possible to detect differences between possession and actual goal threat, insights that are often missed when odds are set based solely on possession or results.
