ModoHow the hockey predictions work
Every match in the SHL and HockeyAllsvenskan is calculated from PlaymakerAI's hockey data — event data from several thousand matches with shots, xG, faceoffs, penalties and goaltending performances. The model weighs in the teams' strength ratings (adjusted for league level), form, shot quality for and against, power play and penalty kill, and goaltender quality estimated over the last hundred matches.
For each match the model produces a complete goal distribution for regulation time. From it we derive the probabilities of a home win, a draw and an away win after 60 minutes, the score matrix, expected goals and over/under lines. A separate component estimates who wins if the match goes to overtime or a shootout. The prediction is frozen before puck drop and graded openly afterwards, hit or miss.
Odds are collected continuously from our partner bookmakers (the Betsson and ComeOn groups). When the model's probability for an outcome is higher than the odds imply, we flag it as value (EV+). That is the model's assessment, not a guarantee: even bets with positive expected value often lose. Gamble responsibly.
Predictions before every round
The hockey week follows a fixed pattern with rounds on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Before every round the match pages are updated with the league position, head-to-head record and form — and once the line-ups are confirmed the predictions are recalculated one last time. Click a match in the list above for the analysis of that match.
From prediction to bet builder
A single prediction is rarely the whole bet. The sheer number of events in hockey makes it one of the best sports for bet builders — where match winner, goals, shots and penalties are combined into one price. We show both the single value bet and how the legs relate to each other when they go on the same slip.
Frequently asked questions about hockey predictions
What is a data-driven hockey prediction?
A data-driven prediction starts from a probability rather than an opinion. The model weighs the teams’ form, shot statistics, goaltending, power play and home advantage and works out how often each outcome happens. Only then is that probability compared with the bookmakers’ odds — a value bet appears when the bookmaker’s price is worse than the statistically fair one.
Why do hockey predictions differ from football predictions?
Hockey has more goals, more events per match and a decider in overtime or a shootout, which makes a draw after regulation time common. That gives both more markets to analyse and more randomness in any single match — so we put more weight on the underlying numbers such as shots, chance quality and special teams than on runs of results.
How often are the hockey predictions updated?
The match list is updated continuously and every match page is recalculated before puck drop as line-ups and odds come in. Finished matches get their final score straight after the final buzzer.
Do the predictions cost anything?
No. All predictions and bet builder analysis on BetBuildersAI are free. Gamble responsibly — odds are entertainment, not income, and no model can guarantee a profit.
