    Every prediction is frozen before puck drop and settled on the score after 60 minutes – the result, the goal line and the correct score. The match winner is settled on the final score including overtime and shootout, because that is how the market is defined. ROI is calculated with one unit per pick at the best quoted odds before puck drop – the price you could actually have got, not an average.

    The hit rate on its own does not say much: a model that always picks the favourite hits often and loses money. So compare the hit rate with "the model expected" – if they are close, the probabilities are calibrated – and the ROI with the EV filter on. That is where it is decided.
