EFL League One xG table 2026/27

The official table shows what has happened. The xG table shows how the teams in EFL League One have performed beneath the surface: expected goals for and against, expected points (xP) and playing style. The gap between points and xP shows which teams are over- and underrated right now — and that is usually where the value lies.

Frequently asked questions about the xG table

    What is xG?

xG, or expected goals, measures chance quality: every shot is given a value between 0 and 1 based on how often similar shots have historically been scored — the distance, the angle, the type of pass before it, the body part and the pressure from defenders. The total over a match or a season shows how many goals a team should have scored.

What is xP and why does it differ from the points table?

xP, or expected points, is worked out by playing each match thousands of times from the two teams' xG in that match and counting how often it ends in a win, a draw or a defeat. A team sitting well above its xP in EFL League One has had the margins on its side — and tends to lose ground over the coming rounds.

How often is the xG table updated?

After every round played in EFL League One. The table is built on the same model as our match predictions, so the figures here are exactly the ones behind the predictions for the next round.

What do field tilt (FT) and playing style mean?

Field tilt is a team's share of the match's passes in the final third — a measure of who dominates territorially. Playing style is a clustering of the team's season profile in possession, pressing and directness, showing how the team wins (or loses) its points.
